BaZi, also called the Four Pillars of Destiny (四柱八字), describes a birth moment with four pairs of characters: a Heavenly Stem and an Earthly Branch for the year, month, day and hour. This BaZi calculator shows each pillar in Chinese characters with its reading, counts how often each of the five elements (wood, fire, earth, metal, water) appears, and shows your Chinese zodiac animal.
How it is calculated: the year changes at Lichun (Start of Spring, around 4 February), not on 1 January or at Lunar New Year, and each month starts at one of the 12 solar terms. The engine is the open-source manseryeok library (solar terms to the minute, lunar data from the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute). Your birth time is converted with your browser’s time-zone database, so historical daylight saving time and changes of standard time are taken into account, and the day and hour pillars use local standard time. Options cover three Zi-hour conventions, longitude (true solar time) correction and Korean standard time in 1954–1961.
Limits: dates from 1900 to 2050. Element counts use only the main element of each character, without hidden stems or seasonal strength. Luck pillars and Ten Gods are not included yet. Lunar dates can follow the Chinese, Korean or Japanese calendar, which differ on some days. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is sent or saved, and there is no share link — only an image you save yourself.
